‘That’s No Fish Tale!’

Devices such as the LANCAST Twisted-Pair/Coax Translator allowed older 10BASE2 ethernet installs to communicate with a network based on the newer 10Base-T standard. This allowed for a graduated upgrade of a site’s network.

While similar devices exist today to allow twisted-pair networks to connect to fibre optics, they tend not to be advertised with images of mermaids.
