‘Revelations…’
First launched in 1993, Excel 5.0 for Mac was built on the same codebase as Excel 5.0 for Windows. While it was reasonably well received on release, Excel 5.0 was later ‘widely considered to be the worst version of Excel ever for the Mac’.
While the concept of a Pivot Table was not new, Microsoft trademarked the term PivotTable in the winter of 1993. The trademark was granted in the winter of 1994 and was retained by Microsoft until the spring of 2020 where it lapsed due to lack of paperwork.
Microsoft Excel 5.0 can be downloaded as part of Microsoft Office 4.2 from WinWorldPC.
