Expressbase Il works by reading a
shorthand text file previously created with
the aid of atext editor, which subsequently
expands it to. a dBASE II program.

Expressbase Il allows you fo:

abbreviate dBASE Il commands, user
commands, and screen messages to
single or two character code, thereby
saving programming time.

choose single or multi-line phrases from
libraries, and position them where you
wish in your program. Up to 9 parameters
can be passed to a specified multi-line
library routine.

paint your screens and reports to govern
your output precisely. Reports canbe
produced up to 240 characters wide and
120 lines deep.

define your own field and memory
names, thereby ensuring program
readability.

process enbloc up to 250 programs.

Salamanca Software’s Expressbase II was a macro language and pre-processor for the dBaseII database. Expressbase II allowed the user to either use a prebuilt library of macro codes (or procedures parlance), or to create their own reusable procedures, and then write Expressbase II scripts with these shorts codes. Expressbase II would then expand these shorts codes into a full dBaseII script via Expressbase’s pre-processor utility. This allowed greater code reuse.
