‘People to Meet’

Black Sun Interactive was a vendor of VR-friendly 3D interactive worlds based - as of 1996 - on the VRML 3d vector format accessed by a Netscape 3.0 Plug-in. Black Sun Interactive was named after the Black Sun cyber cafe in the Neal Stephenson novel Snow Crash. Projects included an Atlanta Braves 3D stadium and chat service, a ZDNet VRML subset, and an online market. Black Sun’s CyberGate and CyberHub also provided the technology behind the CyberTown online community’s 3D Colony City Project.
