The Digital Group’s computer
systems have a lot of character
already. Just one quick look at
any of our products in their
unique custom cabinets con-
firms that. But we believe it
never hurts to add a bit more.

So, the Digital Group has added
character in a big way to give an
added dimension to the opera-
tion of our video-based com-
puter systems. We are pleased
to announce our new readout with a 64-character line.
It will give your system a ge deal more capability. Give
it more character, if you will.

Here are the specifics on the Digital Group TV Readout
and Audio Cassette Interface:

1024 Character TV Readout
¢ 64 characters horizontal by 16 lines
e 7x9 character matrix (effectively 7x12 due to char-
acter shifting)

e 1K on-board RAM for buffer storage—requires
no main memory—completely independent

e 128 character ASCII
Upper case alpha
mtg case alpha with base line extenders (g,
), P, » 4
Numbers and extended math symbols
Greek alphabet
e Software driven cursor—forward and backward
¢ Compatible with most microprocessors; Interfaces
with 1 8-bit parallel output port
e Timebase may be driven with an external timebase
(may be synchronized to TV camera, TV set, etc.)
e Readout timebase available at connector (can be
used for graphic driver, etc.)
e White characters on black, and/or black on white;
software selectable

‘64, to be exact.’

The Digital Group’s TVC-64 was a combined graphics card and tape interface.

As a graphics card, the TVC-64 was capable of outputting 1024 characters in the form of 16 lines of 64 characters each. Each character was formed from 7 by 13 matrix of dots. The TVC-64 was specifically designed to display its output on a TV screen- allowing the user to choose a cheaper TV display over a more expensive dedicated monitor. As a tape interface, the TVC-64 was capable of running at 1100 baud (110 characters/second) and worked with a standard tape recorder.
