Novell NetWare was a network operating system that provided - amongst other services - file share, DNS, DHCP, print, and SAN solutions. By the autumn of 1999, NetWare 5.0 (first released in October 1998) was the leading release of Novell’s NetWare line. Whilst Novell NetWare had been a leading network operating system in the early to mid 1990s, by the late 90s and early 00s Microsoft’s Windows NT/2000 platform had made severe inroads into NetWare’s market share.

Bruce Parker ceased to be CIO of United Airlines in December 1999.

In the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, United Airlines entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy, restructured, and continues to trade today.
