A peer to October, 21st’s ‘Smart is Beautiful’ ad, this AltaVista advert again suggests that, as an internet search engine, it is best placed for you to find all of the answers you require in life - ‘ethereal and otherwise’.
Published in the autumn of 1999, this advert was born of AltaVista’s desire to raise its credibility prior to an IPO attempt in April 2000. Due to the Dotcom crash, AltaVista failed to IPO and was eventually bought by Overture Services, Inc in 2003.
